Jazzmyne Crymulti-disciplinary artist - New Orleans, LA, USA
a multi-medium artist working with textiles in New Orleans. Their work centers on cultural craft preservation, with a focus on nurturing the reciprocal relationship between land and body. Using dyes derived from plant matter, they create work that reminds us that we have a symbiotic relationship to cloth.
Her practice developed through independent study, a 1-year fashion program, as well as studying under natural dye masters, and years of experimenting with fibers and plants.
Jazzmyne has led workshops for institutions such as Xavier and Tulane Universities, and The Ogden Museum of Southern Art. She has also taught curriculum in the fashion program at the Material Institute of New Orleans and shown in collaborative fashion shows as a designer. Her work has brought her into the realm of sculptural installations and interior design as a textile artist while taking time to develop a focused studio practice.
